Ground Improvement

Building on Better Ground

Ground improvement techniques are essential for increasing the bearing capacity of soils, mitigating settlement, and reducing liquefaction potential in seismic zones. ADEI designs and installs systems tailored specifically to your project’s geology.

Techniques We Employ

  • Vibro-Compaction: Densifies loose granular soils to prevent settling.
  • Deep Soil Mixing & Jet Grouting: Strengthens weak or compressible strata by blending cementitious materials directly into the ground structure.
  • Compaction & Pressure Grouting: Fills voids and reinforces soils beneath existing structures to arrest subsidence.
  • Liquefaction Mitigation: Critical stabilization for projects in earthquake-prone regions.
  • Geopiers (Rammed Aggregate Piers): Geopiers are a ground improvement system consisting of stiff, compacted aggregate columns installed to reinforce and densify weak or compressible soils. Constructed by drilling or displacing a cavity and then placing crushed stone in controlled lifts, each lift is densified using high-energy ramming to create a stiff inclusion with high modulus. The result is a composite soil–pier system that significantly increases bearing capacity, reduces total and differential settlement, and improves overall subgrade stiffness.

Benefits

  • Extends the service life of new and existing structures.
  • Enables construction on otherwise “unbuildable” land.
  • Often more cost-effective than deep pile foundations.
  • Minimal spoil generation, and immediate load carrying capability.
